Deaths
STEPHENS, Revd Michael, husband of the late Molly Stephens, both formerly of Tovil and Brabourne with Smeeth, died peacefully 9/4/2026, aged 96, at home in Kirkbymoorside. Funeral on Mon 27th April at 2.30pm at All Saints, Kirkbymoorside. The service will be streamed for those unable to attend (quote ‘Ringing World’ for the link). No flowers please but donations to ‘All Saints Church’ and ‘Ryedale Community Transport’. All enquiries to Adam Collier Funeral Service 01439 772340.

BETTLEY-COOKE, Roy, died on 31st March 2026. He started ringing at St Michael’s Headingley, Leeds in 1964, then rang at Bradford Cathedral. After moving south he rang at Sunbury-on- Thames, Oatlands Park and Kingston-upon- Thames until 2010 when the steps became too much. He enjoyed ringing at over 250 towers at home and abroad and met some wonderful friends. His funeral is on Tuesday 5th May at 12.30 at Randall’s Crematorium, Leatherhead. HUGHES, Graeme, husband of Gill. Long time ringer at Belper and Tower Captain for many years. Passed away peacefully at home aged 88 on Tuesday 7th April 2026.

MORRIS, Ruth M, passed away on Friday 20th =February aged 94, after a long illness. Her memorial service will be at 11am on Tuesday April 21st at St Matthias Church, Malvern Link with refreshments and ringing in the Link Room and tower after the service. TURNEY, John F I, of Hopton Heath, Shropshire, died peacefully on 21st February. An event to celebrate John’s life will be held at Aston-on Clun Village Hall (SY7 8EH) on Friday 17th April at 2.00pm, with ringing beforehand at Leintwardine (SY7 0LD) from 12.15 to 1.15pm.
